The Country Ways Christian Women’s Connection invited The Qahal Musicians to perform at a Valentine Morning Tea at the Cape Hunt & Polo Club in Durbanville. Annalie Herbst (soprano) and Johann Nefdt (baritone) accompanied by Elizabeth Carstens performed at the occasion
From the start of the Holy Week in Kuils River the Qahal Musicians was very much involved in performing at the Holy Week. Annalie Herbst (soprano), Johann Nefdt (baritone), Val Cornes (violin) and Elizabeth Carstens (piano) performed this blessed night at the Holy Week. Annalie’s interpretation of “How beautiful are the Feet”, “Come unto Him” (Handel) as well as “Panis Angelicus” (César Franck) was delightfully served. Johann’s presentation of “The Sovereignty of God” (Frances Allitsen) and “Great Lord of Life” (Valentine Hemers) were magnificent. Val Cornes enchanted the congregation with the “Air” (J.S. Bach) and “Meditation” (Massenet) on her violin.
The Qahal Musicians, Charlotte Stopforth (mezzo), Johann Nefdt (baritone) and Kevin Kraak (organ) did a wonderful Lydensprogram, the Thursday before Good Friday, in the DR Toringkerk in Paarl. Kevin’s prelude was wonderful and his accompaniment on the organ was magnificent. Johann’s interpretation of “Ave Verum” (W.A. Mozart) and Charlotte’s interpretation of “Laudate Dominum” (W.A. Mozart) were very much enjoyed by congregation. The serene moment, in the middle of the programme when Holy Communion was served, was blessed.
The Qahal Musicians did a Good Friday program at the DR Church Three Anchor Bay in Green Point. Minette du Toit-Pearce (mezzo) joined Johann Nefdt (baritone), Val Cornes (violin), Elizabeth Carstens (piano) when they presented the program called: "With Music and the Spoken Word” .
The DR Church Obsevatory organised a Sunday afternoon concert “Lente Serenade” with Spring being the theme. Lynne Anderson (mezzo), Val Cornes (violin), Erika Fox (piano) and Johann Nefdt performed at this occasion.
Qahal was part of a big Advent concert with Izanette van Schalkwyk (Organizer) and Hans Nel as conductor of the Qahal Orchestra and choirs in the Kuils River D R church. Johann Nefdt, Charlotte Stopforth and Annalie Herbst was the soloists at this performance.
Charlotte Stopforth (mezzo), Johann Nefdt (baritone), Val Cornes (violin) and Erika Fox (Qahal Musicians) were invited to perform at the Year End Function of the “Vrouediens” in the Church hall of the DR Church Albertinia. The Artists had a wonderful time in Heidelberg. They had an excellent dinner after their concert and stayed over in a lovely guest house.
Johann Nefdt, accompanied by Kevin Kraak (organ) sang “Met Middernag” (D’Adam) at the special Christmas Eve Service that was held at the DR Church Kuils River South. Kevin gave ‘n outstanding improvisation of the same song in between the two verses that Johann sang.
Charlotte Stopforth (mezzo) and Johann Nefdt (baritone) sang at the Christmas Service of the DR Church Kuils River. They both sang a solo and also sang a duet. They practiced one evening during the week before Christmas at Johann’s home in Bosonia in Kuils River. Kevin Kraak accompanied them on the organ.
